Returning from a weeklong cruise, I find myself being introspective. Maybe I’m just getting older (aren’t we all?) but whenever I gazed at the ship I sailed on or the airplane I flew on, I kept thinking, mankind (and this goes without saying that women are included in this) is skilled in so many areas. I mean, the fact that man designed something as massive as a 165,000 ton ship that can move 6,000 people to different parts of the world in a matter of days in itself is astounding. Something so large yet it can float.
While eating, I would observe numerous families consisting of many nationalities, eating or interacting with the staff, who were also from all over the world.
Therefore, it boggles my mind when I continue to read about violence here in the U.S. as well as other parts of the world. It is so senseless.
Why is this?
A man in the nearby town of Temple Hills, Maryland, shot two firefighters, killing one and critically injuring the other, after they came to his residence on a welfare check. It is unclear at this time whether he thought that it was a home invasion or whether they introduced themselves or forced their way in but it asks the question: When did we get like this, everyone scared of everyone else? The motto nowadays is to shoot, stab, beat-up, you name it first and ask questions later.
When will mankind get itself together and learn to live, play and work together like we did on that huge ship I was on, a microcosm of the world at large?
I hope it is soon.
The more we progress the less evolved we become?? It just seems like that to me. Good post. Enjoyed reading your thoughts.
Thanks, Andrew.
These thoughts cross my mind a lot too. We are a strange bunch.
I hope you had an amazing time! A week long cruise sounds awesome!
There are some things that I didn’t get to do but overall, I had fun. Every one should go on a cruise at least once, unless you don’t like large bodies of water.
Thanks for the follow, OM!
Not a problem! I have a new website so I had to refollow you! 🙂
I am grateful and will be checking your new one out, too.
You are very kind! I hope your week goes well! 🙂
Yours too!
The world and the news certainly are distressing things these days. I used to live in Clinton, MD – a long time ago.
It is very distressing and it is sometimes very difficult for me not to get mired in the hopelessness of it all. Also, if you’re into astrology, which I take with a grain of salt, my sign is Pisces and my friends and family all say that I’m very sensitive. I am. 🙂
A worrying bunch we are for sure. We achieve so much yet behave like Neanderthals.
Sad, isn’t it?
