I got to her before he did.

“Don’t touch her!” his commanding voice rang out.

I stopped short for a second but bent down to give aid.

Oooh, such an intense moment! Makes me wonder who is the woman in the street, and why the two men are rushing to her aid…

Well, the “I” character was a woman and I wish I’d had enough time to complete the scene. Yours was more thorough.
