I recently finished reading the Kindle Vella story, Waiting for the Day, Christmas, by Nortina Simmons.
I can’t say that I’m a particularly religious person but the story was very thought-provoking.
It stems around a group of old college friends who most of them (with the exception of Renee) are all attempting to become better versions of themselves as they await the arrival of two of the friends’ Christmas Day wedding. Some of them do have some serious issues. They all seem to be emulating one of their couple friends, Renee and Bryan, which in my opinion, is always a bad idea. It’s great to have a role model but most humans are flawed, even the ones that seem to have it all together, such as Renee (not so much her husband, Bryan, lol). I think that’s what the author was attempting to convey, which I enjoyed. You don’t have to be evil or a heathen but loving yourself and helping others is always a good thing.
I am familiar with Nortina’s short stories on WordPress over the years and this is the first long story I have read from her. She is a very gifted writer and I look forward to reading more stories from her.
Aww thanks so much for the review, Pamela! I’m glad you enjoyed it. That makes my heart warm!
No problem! 😊
