Stabbings in Idaho.

Mass shootings in a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Six hundred and fifty mass shootings so far this year.

I can’t even keep up.

An average newscast consists of at least 1/3 killings of some sort, many of them being mass shootings.

What is wrong with us? Why do a lot of us only seem to be able to resolve our conflicts by killing each other?

Sure, the pandemic as well as mental health issues no doubt resulted in some of these killings but clearly not all of them. Americans have been killing other Americans for years. Actually, since this nation was founded and even before that. Not counting wars or other conflicts, we have taken it to another level in the last several centuries.

I don’t understand it. Humankind has improved the quality of life in many ways in just the last two centuries, yet we are never satisfied. We either want what someone else has or need to rectify perceived wrongs that were done to us. Even worse, we have an element of evil among us that obtains a level of gratification watching another person suffer or die. Why?

And to me, the motive doesn’t matter. Because to me, the horse has already left the barn at that point. Maybe it does some good to analyze the situation but I can’t see it. What does it do for the injured or deceased? Not much.

I’m just tired of it.

Young people.

Old people.

It doesn’t matter to me.

What does matter is that a human life was taken.

I thought we were supposed to be the most evolved species.

For a long time, I don’t know if I agree with that.
