What skills or lessons have you learned recently?

The skills I have been learning recently are the Spanish and French languages.

Yes, simultaneously.

Yes, I am crazy.

I began learning Spanish via the Duolingo language app during the beginning of the pandemic. Unfortunately,  I never learned it while in school. So in recent years, I wanted to be able to converse with some of my Spanish-speaking neighbors and use my skills, such as they are, during any other occasion where I have the opportunity to make someone, of which English is not their native language,  feel at ease.

Why French? Well, I wasn’t successful at learning it in school and I don’t really know anyone who speaks it but I always thought it was sexy sounding so that’s my motivation with that one. I once heard a pair of West African hair braiders speaking it but they spoke trop rapidement pour moi.

The languages are similar in a lot of ways so word to the wise, make it easy on yourself and if you decide to learn them, don’t do it this way.
